I LOVE this deep fryer!!! I am a big fan of fries and fried seafood but have not used a deep fryer before. I generally go out to eat when I am craving a chicken sandwich and fries (chicken strips and fries, a sandwich and fries.... nearly anything and fries) or if I have to have a fried "seafood platter." If I make "fries" at home I generally cut up potatoes using the Progressive International Vegetable/French Fry Cutter drizzle a little oil and bake in the oven. Although it is healthier, it isn't nearly as delicious.
Enter the George Foreman Deep Fryer. Being new to a deep fryer I had to read the instructions as I had no idea what to do. (Never worked the obligatory fast food job in college... just a deli). After washing it out I was making fries, chicken nuggets, and fish in no time.
It is the "Smart Spin" that makes this deep fryer completely revolutionary. When I took my food out of the fryer and set it on a stack of paper towels... NO GREASE SPOTS AT ALL!!!! I didn't believe it. Normally my fast food makes the bag and napkins transparent. My fries were perfectly crispy and tasted much better than In-N-Out's. I am completely sold on this product. Additionally, the "Spin Cycle" did not cause any of my breading to come off of my fish (used the slower cycle for this but faster for the fries and store-bought nugguts).
On the risk of sounding completely infomercial-ly (did I really use the word "revolutionary"?!?!?) I have to balance it with a critique: The only downside is that this product is a beast. It takes up a lot of space and I had to be creative with my storage option. May not be a problem for most but I live in an old "historical" (read: decrepit) home without a ton of cupboards. Also, I need to figure out how to take out the oil to reuse at a later date. (The manual says the oil can be reused several times... haven't decided if I think it's icky or economical yet.)
Overall, if you are in the market for a deep fryer, this is the one to get. Like other fryers you can deep fry without the spin cycle... BUT it is better to have this option. Less grease means more fries... right? Probably not the theory George had in mind.
