Customer Review: It's electric. It cooks things. Hooray.

Make a product fool-proof and only a fool will use it.
And, seeing as this product is pretty damn near fool-proof, some of these reviews are pretty damn near foolish.
First off, it's important to know that this will never, ever, ever replace an oven or an outdoor grill in the backyard.
It isn't meant to be used at broiling temperatures for half an hour so you can sear a perfect flank steak. And honestly,
you're not going to want to have something heated to over 500 degrees just sitting and smoking on your counter top, anyway;
really, asking a simple kitchen grill to do that is like asking why your food processor can't blend the perfect margarita. Though
it's similar in purpose, it just simply wasn't designed to do that.
Instead, this handy little device was most likely developed for people that want a quick burger or chicken breast or salmon
fillet for dinner and don't want the mess or hassle of a stove or the mysterious qualities of a microwave that renders some
meats disturbingly soggy. It also gives those neat little grill marks that you can't get with a griddle, and seeing as your
meat is cooked from both sides and the machine has a timer, it allows you to focus on enjoying the night as your dinner
more-or-less cooks itself. To that end, I'd have to say it's close to perfect.
Alright, on to some minor annoyances. The timer on the unit emits a shrill little noise to tell you when it's done, that it repeats every so often until you turn it off, just like most microwaves. This noise is like the highest key on a piano, but electric--almost akin to a very weak smoke alarm. Since I live in an apartment, and am usually no more than ten feet away from the thing, I find it obnoxious. But, seeing as I can turn it off, I often just use the microwave's timer. No real hassle. I was perplexed to find that the drip tray isn't attached to the grill, though. Instead, it's just a little plastic trough that you have to place underneath it. No major problem, but I just can't see why it couldn't have been attached, thus preventing it from getting bumped or knocked around accidentally.
Other than that, it's about what you'd expect: a standard grill that can cook about four burgers at a time (which is two rows of four standard Campbell's soup cans, to give you a better idea of the size,) and it comes at a reasonable price. Definitely a worthy investment.
